SHEPPTON – East Union Township was among a group of seven municipalities awarded grants to improve parks via the 2020 Community Conservation Partnerships Program.
East Union received $50,000 to rehabilitate American Legion Park in Sheppton. The project, according to a media release from State Senator David G. Argall (R-29), will include the construction of a pedestrian walkway and the installation of new play equipment.
“I am thankful that these projects received these well-deserved grants,” said Argall. “These projects will be a great benefit for communities across Schuylkill County.”
“This is great news for our community,” said Knowles. “Grants like this help support recreation and conservation opportunities, which help make the 124th Legislative District a better place to live, work and play. In addition, it creates jobs for the area. These grants show a tremendous example of what can be accomplished when community and state government leaders work together.”
“Now, more than ever, people are looking to spend more time in the great outdoors. These grants will help them do just that,” said Goodman.
Other projects across Schuylkill County include:
Frailey Township: $200,000 for the development of the Good Spring Park and Trail. This project will include the construction of 1.3 miles of trail, parking lot, and an observation area.
Porter Township: $100,000 for the rehabilitation of Reinerton Playground. This project will include the construction of pedestrian walkways as well as the installation of new playground equipment.
