DUI suspected in Heights crash

SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS – A borough woman was taken into police custody under suspicion of DUI after a crash in this West Mahanoy Township village Sunday night.

The crash happened around 9:15pm on Pennsylvania Avenue a few hundred yards east of the PPL Substation.

State Police at Frackville said Marie Manbeck, 66, of Shenandoah, was headed west towards Shenandoah Heights in a 2004 Chrysler Sebring when she left the roadway and struck a stone mailbox structure for 100 Ohio Avenue.

The impact snapped the right front axle of the vehicle.

Shenandoah EMS responded for an evaluation, and state troopers took Manbeck into custody under suspicion of DUI.

Shenandoah Heights Fire responded as well, assisting with traffic control, and the vehicle was towed by Steve’s Towing, Shenandoah.
