Driver in fatal Lansford crash dies at hospital
LANSFORD – Three weeks later, the driver in a crash near this Carbon County borough has died.
The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said Friday morning that James R. Carroll, 47, of Summit Hill, was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill. His cause of death was ruled an accident.
He was driving a 2009 Nissan Maxima on East Patterson Street near Andrewsville Road when he struck a tree on March 9 around 2am.
His passenger, 48-year-old Sean Maiden, of Jim Thorpe, died that morning.
Carroll was suspected of driving under the influence, according to State Police at Lehighton.
