Downpour, runoff leads to splashes at Patriotic Hill

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - A Jaguar drives through water in the eastbound lane of Route 54 at Patriotic Hill on July 11, 2020.

PATRIOTIC HILL – A pair of downpours moved through the valley this afternoon.

In this Mahanoy Township village, water runoff from a mining operation on the west side of Route 54 made its way to the highway with haste, running along the highway before crossing to reach the former St. Nicholas Breaker side.

Traffic heading eastbound made quite a splash as they passed through the area.
