Dollar General blaze under investigation; no injuries reported
TURKEY RUN – Firefighters cleared the scene of Monday’s blaze at the Shenandoah Dollar General around 8:30pm, concluding a 4 1/2 hour firefight.
Crews were called to the store at the Gold Star Plaza around 4pm for a reported building fire.
Light smoke could be seen coming from the dollar store as firefighters arrived.
That smoke progressively thickened as the fire spread through the building.
A second alarm was struck along with a tanker task force.
Shenandoah Fire Chief Rick Examitas had little information to share Monday night, but said no one was injured in the blaze.
The chief said a State Police fire marshal will be on scene Tuesday morning to investigate.
The Shenandoah Fire Department was assisted by crews from Mahanoy City, Frackville, Englewood, Shenandoah Heights, Girardville, Ringtown, Nuremberg, Aristes, Sheppton, Gordon and Fountain Springs, among others.
Schuylkill Haven and Nesquehoning firefighters covered Shenandoah and Mahanoy City.
