Dollar General blaze remains under investigation
TURKEY RUN – Monday’s blaze at the Shenandoah Dollar General remains under investigation, and investigators as asking anyone who was in the store around the time of the fire to contact them.
The fire broke out around 4pm at the store, an outparcel of the Gold Star Plaza shopping center.
When firefighters arrived, a light, grey smoke condition was evident, which progressively darkened and thickened to a jet black plume.
Flames engulfed the dollar store’s interior as firefighters battled the blaze in defensive operations.
The multi-alarm fire brought crews and tankers from across Schuylkill County to the scene.
Shenandoah Fire Chief Rick Examitas and State Police Fire Marshal Joseph Hall were both on scene Tuesday to investigate.
Examitas said the cause remains under investigation and asked anyone who was in the store around the time of the fire to call State Police at Frackville at 570-874-5300 and ask for Hall.
No injuries were reported in the blaze.
Dollar General has additional local locations in Ashland, Mahanoy City, Ringtown, Barnesville, and Mount Carmel.
