Diakon to distribute farm vouchers to area seniors
SHENANDOAH – Area residents age 60 or older will soon be able to receive farm vouchers, thanks to a community organization.
Diakon Community Services will distribute farm vouchers to residents aged 60 or older meeting income guidelines – $23,606 for a single-person household and $31,894 for a two-person household. Eligibility includes total income including investment interest, wages and Social Security and similar distributions. The program does not include older adults living in nursing care centers or other residential facilities in which meals are provided.
This year, a public distribution will not be held because of the coronavirus pandemic, though applications will be accepted. Applications can be sent in via mail, email, or fax to 118 South Centre Street, Pottsville, [email protected] or fax to 1-570-624-3011 before September 23.

The vouchers are a program of the state Department of Agriculture.
