Demolition begins on burned Dollar General

TURKEY RUN – Nearly five months after a major fire engulfed the building, demolition began on the Dollar General location at the Gold Star Plaza.
Heavy equipment made progress bringing down the remains of the single story store in the Turkey Run section of Shenandoah borough Tuesday afternoon.
The store sat since flames destroyed it on April 3, 2023. A fence was put up around the building not long after.
An email to Dollar General’s media relations department regarding future plans for the location was not answered by Tuesday night.
