Death investigation underway in North’d

UPDATE 3:50pm 7/5/2020: State Police Troop F Public Information Officer Mark Reasner said Sunday, “This incident is still under investigation.  There is no concern for the general public’s safety.”

ORIGINAL STORY:

EAST CAMERON TWP., Northumberland County – Dozens of emergency responders spent much of the midday Saturday on a farm in this township, after state police say a dead body was found in the nearby woodlands.

State Police at Stonington said they were called to a farm on Bates Road in East Cameron Township around 8:46am, after someone found a deceased individual in the woods. The farm is about two miles west of Lavelle.

State troopers, including a forensic services unit, responded to the scene along with first responders from several Northumberland County fire companies and search and rescue teams.

A Northumberland County Coroner’s vehicle was present at the scene as well, and units remained at the farm well into the afternoon.

Troopers did not release the identity of the individual, or any further information on the incident, noting the investigation is ongoing.
