Crash injures four in Sugarloaf Township

SUGARLOAF TOWNSHIP, Luzerne County – Four people were injured after a head-on collision near the Sugarloaf/Black Creek Township line in southern Luzerne County yesterday evening.
Fire crews from Nuremberg-Weston and Sugarloaf were dispatched to 694 Rock Glen Road just before 8:00pm Wednesday for reports of a head-on collision.
According to Sugarloaf Township Police, a black sedan travelling westbound crossed the double yellow line and struck a silver SUV head-on.
The driver of the SUV and two juvenile passengers suffered serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A Sybertsville man, 32-year-old Robert Wiard, was driving the sedan and was also injured. Police said he showed signs of driving under the influence, and a search warrant for a blood test was obtained. DUI charges are pending those results.
