Council splits in vote to appoint MABS board member
SHENANDOAH – Borough Council filled three seats on three boards — the sewer authority, civil service commission, and municipal authority — at Monday’s meeting.
Council reappointed Mayor Andrew Szczyglak to a five-year term on the sewer authority, where he has served as chair for the past few years, and appointed Bob Cook to a three-year term on the Civil Service Commission.
Szczyglak was the only person who submitted a letter of interest for the seat, and Cook expressed interest during Monday’s meeting for civil service commission, where no one submitted a letter of interest.
Three people submitted letters for a five-year seat on the municipal authority, and council split 5-2 in nominations.
MABS asked for the re-appointment of Brian Dillman to the board, while Michael Uholik and Francis Carduff submitted letters of interest.
Council Vice President Leo Pietkiewicz nominated Carduff, with a second from John Thomas. Joe Boris nominated Uholik, seconded by Diane Korenda.
Pietkiewicz, Thomas, James Burke, William Selbi, and Katie Catizone voted for Carduff while Boris and Korenda voted for Uholik.
