Council: Girardville St. Patrick’s Day parade is off, again

GIRARDVILLE – Last month, the Girardville St. Patrick’s Parade committee announced a date, the return of the parade for the first time since 2023. Wednesday, Girardville Borough Council says the parade is off, again.

Councilmembers told the Sentinel late Wednesday that the parade was off, a decision made by the parade committee.

Attempts to reach the committee were unsuccessful.

The parade has marched a rocky route since 2017. Winter weather forced back-to-back delays in 2017 and 2018, and then the coronavirus pandemic outright cancelled the celebration in 2020 and 2021. It marched

Last year’s parade was cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

This year’s parade was supposed to take place on March 22.
