Council approves paving of Walnut Street, and Vine Street near Boyers
SHENANDOAH – Two of the rougher roads in town will soon be resurfaced, council approved Monday night.
Walnut Street near Coal and Penn Streets, as well as Vine Street near Centre and New York, could be repaved within the next week or so.
Council approved awarding the paving contract to Rhoads Asphalt Paving, Ringtown, at a total costof $26,100.
The streets have recently been milled by borough crews.
In other business, council approved the installation of security cameras at borough hall, the police station, and Girard Park at a cost of $23,000, to be paid for through American Rescue Plan and Police Forfeiture funds.
Council also approved:
- the use of Bicentennial Park by Living Waters Ministry for a tent crusade between July 19 and July 23;
- the appointment of Mary Luscavage to the sewer authority;
- a funding agreement regarding the local share grant for Downtown Shenandoah, Inc.;
- a can collection at Main and Centre by the Shenandoah Valley Girls Softball Team from 4pm to 6:30pm on Friday, May 5;
- a request to have a food truck outside La Casita De Familia on East Centre Street on May 5, 6, and 7 from 11am to 10pm to celebrate Cinco De Mayo.
