Coroner, large police presence at East Cameron farm

EAST CAMERON TWP., Northumberland County – A large police presence and a coroner’s office vehicle were at a farm on a back road between Shamokin and Lavelle Saturday afternoon.
Details are few regarding the incident at a farm on Bates Road, about two miles west of the village of Helfenstein.
The State Police barracks at Stonington said they had no information to release as of about 2:30pm.

According to Northumberland County 911 public incidents website, firefighters were called to assist State Police on a “Fire/EMS Call” around 9:00am. Responding units included brush trucks and utilities from Trevorton, Coal Township, and East Cameron, among others.
Central Region 49 Search and Rescue responded to set up a rehab tent, with temperatures soaring into the 90’s.
About a dozen vehicles, including marked and unmarked State Police vehicles, a Forensic Services unit, and a vehicle marked for Northumberland County Coroner James F. Kelley, were parked at the lower end of a field near a tree line.
