MAHANOY CITY – Held Saturday afternoon at Main and Centre Streets in Mahanoy City was the borough’s Community Day, featuring vendors, food, and more.
The event ran from 10am to 2pm, as vendors of all kinds set up between Linden and 2nd Streets.
From 10am until noon, the Cressona Band provided live music in the front yard of the Mahanoy City High Rise.
Activities for children were also present, including two bounce houses on the unit block of South Main, and a face painting stand on West Centre.
The Mahanoy Area Football Alumni set up outside the Mahanoy City Teen Canteen, with a stand that included a football toss.
The Humane Fire Company and Washington Hook & Ladder both sold food items, with other food options including Vince’s Cheesesteaks’ food truck, My Pop’s Place stand, and Brasil on Wheels, among others.
Demmergraphics also sold t-shirts at a stand, while the Mahanoy Area Public Library sold bags for their used book sale, which customers could take back to the library to fill from their used book section. If you missed Community Day, the library will continue to sell the bags at the library throughout July.
