Columbia Hose serves up bleenies and more at annual block party

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Bleenies -- or potato pancakes, as they are called in other regions -- are served up at the Columbia Hose block party.

SHENANDOAH – The Columbia Hose fire company on West Centre Street is hosting their block party this weekend, serving up bleenies, pierogies, and more.

The block party began yesterday and is going on until 11pm tonight.

Dodging rain showers, the fire company sold nearly as many bleenies yesterday as they did the entire block party last year.

After Dark provided entertainment for the first day.

Tonight, Oz Acoustics is performing.

At 5:30pm today, fire trucks from across Schuylkill County paraded through the borough.

The event continues through 11pm tonight at the firehouse at 742 West Centre Street across from Shenandoah Valley Schools, so come out and support your local fire company.
