GILBERTON – Floodwaters continue to decline at Gilberton, leaving behind high-water marks on buildings as high as five feet in some accessible spots, while much of Railroad Street, Coal Street, and Main Street remain underwater.

The clean-up has begun for some folks, who were loading items into dumpsters or piling them outside their home.

In one location on Railroad Street, someone wrote “No More Water!” in the roadway.

Firefighters from Shenandoah and Mahanoy City were called down to Gilberton to help move pumps to continue efforts to remove the floodwaters.

As of 4:00pm Tuesday, floodwaters were at their lowest point since the morning of June 11.
