Charges withdrawn against man accused of sparking standoff in Lavelle

LAVELLE – The most serious charges against a man accused of slamming his wife’s hand in a door and sparking a standoff were withdrawn Wednesday.

Michael Walnock, 49, of 58 Dutch Road, was facing felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault and disorderly conduct, and summary simple assault for the incident on March 10.

Court paperwork said Walnock slammed his wife’s hand in a door and refused to answer the door when police arrived, sparking a brief standoff.

At a preliminary hearing today, the case was resolved, according to online court documents.

All but a single summary harassment charge was withdrawn.

Walnock pleaded guilty to that harassment charge and paid a fine.
