CAUGHT ON CAMERA: DUI driver downs Welcome to Mahanoy City sign

MAHANOY CITY – A man is behind bars on a warrant and will soon face charges for DUI and driving with a suspended license after his vehicle took down the Welcome to Mahanoy City sign on the west end this morning.
The crash occurred around 10:30am, when John Blashock, behind the wheel of a Pontiac, veered off the roadway and struck the sign.
Blashock was uninjured, though Mahanoy Township Police took him into custody on an out-of-county warrant and on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license, among other violations.
A camera at the Mahanoy Township building caught the incident on camera.
Mahanoy City firefighters and Mahanoy City EMS assisted at the scene.
