Car fire handled at Altamont gas station

ALTAMONT – A burning car wound up embedded in landscaping Tuesday afternoon just outside Frackville borough, and quick action kept the fire from spreading.
A Cadillac sedan’s engine compartment caught fire and the vehicle apparently crashed into bushes in the median at the Speedway gas station in West Mahanoy Township.
Several fire extinguishers were used to tackle the fire, containing it to the engine compartment and an area underneath the dashboard.
It is not clear how the vehicle ended up in the bushes, or if the driver was injured.
State Police are investigating.
