Car downs street light, hydrant, hits shop downtown; no injuries

SHENANDOAH – No injuries were reported when an SUV jumped the sidewalk, striking a street light, fire hydrant, and corner store downtown.

The crash happened around 2:30pm Sunday at Main and Lloyd Streets in town.

Shenandoah firefighters at the scene told the Sentinel the vehicle crossed over and struck the A-to-Z Food Mart.

Contrary to erroneous reports from out-of-town media, Fire Chief Rick Examitas told the Sentinel no injuries were reported.

Shenandoah firefighters responded and Steve’s Towing removed the vehicle. A street light and fire hydrant were taken down and the front of the food mart sustained damage as well.
