DELANO TOWNSHIP – A 78-year-old man from Ontario, Canada is charged with hit and run, and careless driving after his vehicle’s right-side mirror struck a vehicle stopped on the shoulder Tuesday afternoon.
According to State Police at Frackville, a tractor-trailer driven by a Jackson, Mississippi man had been stopped along the southbound shoulder of Interstate 81, near mile marker 136 in Delano Township, around 3:45pm when the incident occurred.
Troopers say the right-side mirror and windshield of a mobile home, driven by 78-year-old Brian Williams of Westport, Ontario, clipped the left-side mirror of the tractor-trailer, destroying both mirrors and shattering the windshield of the mobile home.
According to police, Williams continued southbound, fleeing the scene, and was followed by the tractor-trailer driver, who attempted to flag the man down.
Williams ignored the tractor trailer driver and continued on until a state police patrol car from the Jonestown barracks initiated a traffic stop near mile marker 91 near Bordnersville, Lebanon County.
Williams is charged with misdemeanor hit and run and careless driving following the incident.
