Camp Cadet applications open for local PSP troops

DOUGLASSVILLE – Applications are now open for the Pennsylvania State Police Camp Cadet program.

The overnight summer camp accepts boys and girls ages 12 to 15 and aims to introduce participants to the criminal justice system while building positive relationships between law enforcement and youth. Cadets will live in an environment modeled after an actual State Police Academy.

Camp Cadet is hosted by each individual troop.

Troop L, which covers Schuylkill County in our area, is hosting their camp June 21 through June 27 at Camp Manatawny in Douglassville, Berks County.

The program, PSP says, features presentations from municipal, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Participants will learn about teamwork, honesty and integrity while developing discipline and self-esteem to promote good decision-making.

By the end of the week-long program, cadets will gain understanding of what it takes to become a police officer.

Registration is now open. The first 100 registrants are guaranteed a spot.

More information on the Troop L program is available here.

Troop F, which covers Northumberland County in our area, is open for applications as well. Applications are open until March 1.

Their program is held at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove.

Troop N, which covers Columbia and Luzerne counties in our area, is accepting applications through April 1.

The camp is held at Penn State Hazleton.
