Busy Thursday for firefighters handling brush fires in Conyngham Valley
DRUMS – Firefighters had a busy Thursday in southern Luzerne County with multiple brush fires and a mulch fire, according to police.
Thursday afternoon, firefighters from around the Conyngham Valley were called to a brush fire on Sugarloaf Heights Road, according to Butler Township (Luzerne County) Police.
The fire there, police said, burned two acres and was caused by a resident burning.
Numerous fire companies handled that blaze with the assistance of the Butler Township Police drone unit and Civil Air Patrol.
Two other fires were handled Thursday afternoon in the area, including a brush fire on Thomas Lane and a mulch fire in the bed of a dump truck on Interstate 81.
