BREAKING: Kimmel found guilty of first degree murder in South Catherine Street ambush

SHENANDOAH – Nathaniel Kimmel will spend the rest of his life behind bars, after a Schuylkill County judge found the 25-year-old guilty of first degree murder.
The verdict came down after four days of testimony and evidence in the bench trial.
Kimmel was accused of ambushing his ex girlfriend, April Mahmod at her home on South Catherine Street in 2020.
Judge Goodman cited letters Kimmel sent from jail to home in which Kimmel asked relatives to cover his tracks.
Goodman said “he may as well have written, ‘hey mom, I killed April,'” here’s how to cover for me.
Kimmel will be formally sentenced at 2:45pm, though 1st degree murder comes with a mandatory life sentence.
Members of the Mahmod family are expected to speak at the hearing.
