Borough man suffers minor injury in Vulcan crash
VULCAN – A Shenandoah man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a minor injury after a vehicle accident near this Mahanoy Township village Saturday morning.
The crash happened around 7:30am at Vulcan Hill Road (Route 54) and Morea Road.
State Police at Frackville said Ismael Lopez Aguasanta, 48, of Shenandoah, was headed east on Route 54 in a 2008 Ford Econoline, followed by Katie Gladey, 32, of Mahanoy City in a 2016 Mazda CX3.
Troopers said Gladey’s Mazda struck Lopez Aguasanta’s van in the rear. The Mazda sustained disabling damage.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Lopez Aguasanta was taken to a local hospital by Mahanoy City Ambulance for treatment of a suspected minor injury. He was wearing his seatbelt.
Gladey, troopers said, would be cited for following too closely.
