Borough man, ex-federal prison guard, charged in bribe scheme
SHENANDOAH – A borough man is facing federal charges, accused of selling tobacco to prisoners at Federal Correctional Institute – Schuylkill near Gordon.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania says Paul Taylor, 53, of Shenandoah was charged Tuesday with bribery and corruption.
Taylor, a former correctional officer at FCI – Schuylkill, is accused of smuggling tobacco into the prison between 2011 and 2016, selling it to prisoners for money.
If found guilty, the maximum penalty is 15 years imprisonment, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a release.
