Borough, Mahanoy establishments face liquor law violations
SHENANDOAH – Two establishments in Shenandoah and one in Mahanoy City are accused of violating the state liquor code, the State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement said Wednesday.
Pocono Enterprise Co., operating Mulligan’s Bar on South Main Street, the state says, allowed music or other entertainment to be heard beyond the property line on Oct. 28, Dec. 2, 3, and 16 of 2023.
On those same dates, the PLCB accused the bar of being “operated in a noisy and/or disorderly manner.”
Francesco’s Ristorante on North Main Street, the PLCB said, failed to have a manager trained in the Responsible Alcohol Management Program within 180 days of approval, as required by the Liquor Code. This violation occurred between Nov. 9 and Dec. 18.
In Mahanoy City, VGV Beverages — the Trac6 gas station at the east end of town — is accused of selling alcoholic beverages on credit on Feb. 7, 2023.
They are also accused of operating gambling devices or allowing gambling, lotteries, poolselling, or bookmaking on premises that day and on Jan. 31 and Feb. 2 of the same year.
The PLCB also said that VGV Beverages failed to display evidence that the premises meets sanitary requirements for a public eatery and to constantly display their restaurant liquor license.
Between Nov. 4, 2021 and Feb. 7, 2023, they are also accused of operating another business on the licensed premises without PLCB approval.
All charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who can impose fines between $50 and $5,000 depending on the severity of offense. The judge can also suspend or revoke a license or mandate training.
