SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah has access to healthcare again, as the federally qualified health center on the west end reopened last week.

Primary Health Network reopened their Shenandoah Health Center on Oct. 6, which they say was temporarily inactive. The center is located in the old Movie Gallery building at 624 West Centre Street.

“The reopening of Shenandoah Health Center is a powerful testament to the resilience and strength of rural communities and reaffirms PHN’s dedication to improving health outcomes,” said Dr. George Garrow, CEO of Primary Health Network. “It reflects a deep commitment to building healthier communities by delivering compassionate, high-quality healthcare and breaking down barriers to access in rural areas.”

Talixsa Then, a certified registered nurse practitioner with a specialty in family medicine, will lead the center. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Long Island University and a master of science in nursing from Lehman College.

Primary Health Network says they plan to expand their team and improve access to community-based care.

The center is the only healthcare facility in Shenandoah.
