SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah borough fired an employee related to the police force at Monday night’s council meeting.
Borough council only identified the employee as borough employee number 0135, providing no details on their position or specifics as to why they were fired.
After the meeting, Solicitor Shane Hobbs said there is no criminal investigation ongoing into the matter that he is aware of and that the firing was due to a “breach of the employment contract.”
Following the 6-0 vote to fire the employee, Council President Joe Boris told Mayor Andrew Szczyglak, returning to the room from a phone call of the result of the vote “because you are in charge of the police force.”
Last month, council voted to demote a police captain identified by employee number 0153 and, not long after at a special meeting, voted to rescind that demotion. It is not clear if the votes this month and last are connected.
