Borough firefighters make quick work of Turkey Run fire

TURKEY RUN – A small fire drew the response of Shenandoah’s five fire companies and Mahanoy City’s West End to a housing development in this section of the borough Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were called to an apartment in the Shenandoah Family Development in Turkey Run around 11am for reports of a small fire in a heater.
Borough firefighters arrived on scene and found a small fire in the ceiling in a first floor unit.
The fire was brought under control in short order, and, by noon, firefighters were clear of the scene.
Firefighters from Shenandoah’s Columbia, Phoenix, Polish American, Defender, and Rescue Hook and Ladder fire companies responded along with West End from Mahanoy City.
