Borough firefighters handle porch fire
SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah firefighters made quick work of a small porch fire on the east end Wednesday evening.
Firefighters were called to a home in the unit block of South Lehigh Street around 7:00pm for reports of a structure fire.
Borough police were first on scene, reporting a small porch fire at the rear of a residence.
Crews from Shenandoah’s Phoenix, Rescue Hook and Ladder, and Columbia fire company’s were on scene shortly after.
Shenandoah Fire Marshal Rick Examitas said the fire was extinguished quickly, and labelled the cause as accidental, related to careless smoking.
Firefighters from the Phoenix, “Hookies,” and Columbia responded to the scene along with Shenandoah Police and Shenandoah Ambulance.
