Borough: DG demolition permit includes prep work for rebuild
TURKEY RUN – Borough officials say Dollar General requested permission for the first steps towards a rebuild as part of its demolition permit for the fire-damaged store in Turkey Run.
Borough Manager Anthony Sajone told the Sentinel Thursday that the Tennessee-based company received permission to begin site preparation for a rebuild after demolition is complete.
The store, on a pad site at the Gold Star Plaza in the Turkey Run section of town, sat empty and largely untouched since fire ripped through the single-story structure in the springtime.
Demolition began this week and was halfway complete as of Thursday afternoon.
Sajone said the company has been in contact with the borough in the months since the fire and rebuild plans have not yet been finalized.
Multiple emails from the Sentinel to Dollar General’s media relations department regarding the store have gone unanswered.
