Borough council rescinds demotion of police captain
SHENANDOAH – At a special borough council meeting last Monday, borough council rescinded disciplinary action taken against a police captain at the regular meeting the week before.
Council originally voted at the regular meeting on Sept. 16 to demote a police captain, whom they did not name, to the rank of patrolman. That vote was 5-1, with Michael Whitecavage dissenting and Mike “Zeckie” Uholik abstaining.
What led to the disciplinary action was not mentioned. Mayor Andrew Szczyglak at that meeting asked council if the officer could then return to work, which they approved.
A week later, council rescinded the vote to demote the officer, restoring his rank to captain. That vote was unanimous.
There are two captains in the borough police force.
