SHENANDOAH – The borough’s 11 non-uniformed employees will be getting a pay raise of 2%, after their contract was approved at Monday’s borough council meeting.

The contract is retroactive to January, Tony Sajone, borough manager, said. In the interim, the employees were working without a contract.

In other business, council is continuing to urge residents to complete their census forms.

Only around 33% of borough residents have responded, Sajone said, and the borough will lose nearly $3,000 per resident per year who doesn’t respond to the census, amounting to over $2 Million as of now, over the next ten years.

Borough council also approved a request for no parking signs along North White Street between Centre and Lloyd for the Beverly Mattson Food Bank’s monthly distribution.

Also at the meeting, Mayor Andrew J. Szczyglak requested a motion for the civil service commission to consider candidates for the police department’s Lieutenant position.
