Borough approves 2021 budget with sewer rate increase
SHENANDOAH – Sewer rates are going up next year, but taxes are not, as borough council approved the 2021 budget at a special meeting Wednesday evening.
Sewer rates will increase by 5% next year, borough manager Tony Sajone said.
“The current quarterly bill is $117.00,” Sajone said. “A 5% increase amounts to an additional $5.85 per quarter, or $1.95 per month, making it $122.85 per quarter.”
Shenandoah last raised its property tax rate for the 2016 budget, from 25 mills to its current rate of 27 mills.
One mill is equal to a dollar for every $1,000 in assessed value of a property.
The 2021 budget has revenues of $3,387,533 and expenditures of $3,360,365, according to the version presented earlier this month.
