Bomb threat leads to evacuation of Fairlane Village Mall; 2nd threat this week in county
NORWEGIAN TWP. – A bomb threat — the second this week — led to the evacuation of the Fairlane Village Mall between Pottsville and Saint Clair Tuesday afternoon.
State Police at Schuylkill Haven said they were called to the mall in Norwegian Township around 2:30pm for a reported threat.
Property management told troopers that they had received an email indicating a bomb was on premises. The mall was promptly evacuated.
A State Police explosive detection K9 was called in and searched the premises and found no explosive devices.
The mall was turned back over to property management around 6pm.
Assisting troopers were units from the Pottsville City Bureau of Fire, the Pottsville City Bureau of Police, Saint Clair Police, Good Will Fire Co., American Hose Co., and Norwegian Township Supervisors.
The bomb threat came just over 24 hours after a Shenandoah supermarket was closed and after a suspicious package was found.
Last week, threats were received by a college satellite campus and a hospital in Hazleton.
