Block Party season kicks off with Friendship Fire Co.’s in Englewood

ENGLEWOOD – The first block party of the year, the Friendship Fire Company’s annual event kicked off Friday evening in Butler Township.
Kicking off the event was a fire truck parade featuring apparatus from all ends of Schuylkill County, plus Columbia and Northumberland.
Hundreds came out to the first day of the event held west of Frackville for food, fun, and music as Broken Spell performed beginning as the fire truck parade began to wind through the streets of Frackville, Altamont, and Englewood.
Participating in the parade were fire crews from as far as Pitman, Landingville, and Coaldale in Schuylkill County, as well as Elysburg, Upper Augusta, and Kulpmont in Northumberland County, and Briar Creek Township in Columbia County, among others.
The block party also featured a bounce house and carnival rides for children.
The event continues tomorrow with the Tommy Gun Band performing, through Sunday when Hooligan performs.
The kitchen opens at noon each day.
