At least two homes damaged in Tresckow fire, drawing crews from across coal region
TRESCKOW – Multiple homes were damaged in a fire Thursday in this Carbon County village, drawing firefighters from as far as Girardville to the scene.
Firefighters were called to the area of 5 East Market Street — the Tresckow Post Office — around 1:30pm for a reported house fire.
Crews two homes aflame behind the post office in the unit block of East Hemlock Street.
Multiple alarms were struck both for manpower and for tankers, the latter which brought apparatus from Shenandoah and Girardville to the scene.
The two homes at 4 and 6 East Hemlock were heavily damage, as were nearby structures.
A rehab unit from the Lehigh and Lausanne Fire Co. was brought to the scene as well, as firefighters also contended with air temperatures in the 80s.
No injuries were immediately reported, and it is not clear as of Thursday afternoon how many people were displaced.
Among the crews responding were firefighters from McAdoo, Beaver Meadows, Weatherly, Hazle Township, West Hazleton, Freeland, Coaldale, Girardville, Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, Sheppton-Oneida, Nuremberg-Weston, Foster Township (Luzerne), Tamaqua, and more, along with EMS from McAdoo and Lehigh Valley Health Network.
