At least one transported after flames destroy Rock Glen home

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Two Nuremberg-Weston firefighters battle a house fire at Falls Street and Tomhicken Road in Rock Glen on March 19, 2024.
ROCK GLEN – One person was taken to the hospital for treatment of burns after flames decimated a home in this Black Creek Township community about three miles north of Nuremberg.
Firefighters were called to a home at 102 Falls Street around 5:30pm for a reported fire and found the single home well-involved. The home is on the corner of Falls and Tomhicken Road, the main street of the village and a vital link between Tomhicken and Mountain Grove.
A second alarm was quickly struck. Crews from across northern Schuylkill and southern Luzerne Counties responded to the scene, including Nuremberg-Weston, Sheppton-Oneida, Ringtown Valley, Valley Regional, Hazle Township, West Hazleton and Sugarloaf.
Advanced Life Support medics were requested to the scene for a burn patient, who was taken to the Nuremberg Park where a medical helicopter was supposed to land until snow squalls pushed through the valley.
The home was a total loss and it is not yet known if anyone else was hurt in the blaze.
Firefighters remain at the scene as of 8:00pm and a State Police fire marshal was on scene to investigate.
