Ashland man facing charges for Centralia area pursuit
CENTRALIA – An Ashland man is facing charges after state troopers say he passed them doing 81 in a 55, pulled a u-turn when they tried to pull him over, and fled.
Troopers said they were running traffic enforcement on Route 61 between Centralia and Mount Carmel in Conyngham Township around 1:30pm Thursday.
They said Manuel Santiago Alequin, 25, of Ashland, passed them in a gray Kia Forte travelling at 81mph in a 55 zone.
When they tried to pull him over, he made a u-turn on the highway and fled the other way at a high rate of speed.
He eventually ditched the car on a dirt path and fled on foot.
Charges were filed in a Columbia County magisterial district court.
