Area communities plan National Night Out, community events

SHENANDOAH – Some local communities, including Shenandoah, are planning community events and National Night Out festivities in the next few weeks.
Shenandoah, Ashland, Hazleton, and Conyngham all have events planned.
National Night Out is described as an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
Shenandoah

Shenandoah’s emergency services are teaming up to host National Night Out once again this year.
The event is set for Tuesday, August 5 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at the Shenandoah Community Ambulance building at Main and Washington streets.
Emergency vehicles will be displayed and a variety of community service organizations will be present to share what they do for the area. Some of the participants include the Schuylkill Elder Abuse Prevention Alliance, SARCC, Schuylkill HOPE Center, the Schuylkill County Communications Center, and more.
East Washington Street will be closed from Main to White streets.
Ashland

The Ashland Community Night Committee is putting on the second edition of the event on August 12 from 6pm to 8pm.
It will take place at Memorial Field in town.
Further details are still being worked out, but the Ashland Police Department describes the event as “an evening full of fun, food, and community spirit.”
Hazleton
The Hazleton Police Department says they will host National Night Out on August 22 from 5pm to 8pm.
Vendors are being sought to participate in the event, with a location and further details TBA.
Conyngham

Conyngham Crime Watch is putting together their National Night Out event scheduled for July 29 at Whispering Willows Park in town.
It’ll take place from 5pm to 8pm and features food, vendors, kids games, and more.
Fire apparatus and police cars will be on display and Valley Regional Fire will have their fire safety house on hand.
Air Medical and a State Police helicopter are both expected as well.
