Area businesses cited for COVID, health violations
SHENANDOAH – Several local businesses will be cited by Pennsylvania Liquor Control Enforcement officials for various violations, most of which pertain to coronavirus mandates.
Five businesses in northern Schuylkill County were among the businesses facing citations, according to a media release issued Tuesday.
All charges will go before an Administrative Law Judge who can impose penalties ranging from $50-$1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses, along with a license suspension or revocation.
Mulligans, Shenandoah
Mulligans, 316-318 South Main Street, is being cited for allegedly failing to abide by health and safety mandates related to the coronavirus pandemic.
Specifically, the State Police Liquor Control Enforcement bureau alleges that Mulligans did not provide employees face masks or require they wear one, and allowed someone to be seated at the bar on Feb. 13, 2021.
The Ashland Grille, Ashland
The Ashland Grille, 309-310 Centre Street, is being cited for allegedly failing to abide by health and safety mandates related to the coronavirus pandemic.
Liquor Control Enforcement alleges that the Ashland Grille, on Feb. 7, 2021, “did not require all customers to wear face masks while entering, exiting, or otherwise travelling throughout the establishment, did not provide face masks for employees to wear at work, or did not require employees to wear face masks at all times while at the establishment, sold and/or served alcohol to a patron for on-premises consumption in a transaction that did not include a meal, [and] did not provide at least six feet between parties at tables or physical barriers between customers where booths are arranged back to back.”
Face mask requirement violations were also noted on Feb. 17 and Feb. 21. Barrier, distance, and alcohol service without a meal violations were also noted on Feb. 21.
Liquor Control Enforcement also alleges that, on Feb. 21, the business “allowed a patron to be seated at the bar, permitted patrons to consume alcohol and/or food while not seated at tables or booths, sold, furnished, or gave alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption after 11:00pm, and permitted patrons to possess and/or consume alcoholic beverages on the licensed premises after midnight.”
Roman’s Lounge and Catering, Frackville
Roman’s Lounge and Catering, 101-103 South Broad Mountain Avenue, is being cited for allegedly selling or serving alcohol to a patron for on-premises consumption without a meal, and allowing a patron to be seated at the bar on Feb. 27, 2021.
McGuire’s Pub, Mahanoy City
McGuire’s Pub, 130 West Centre Street, is being cited for a variety of alleged health and safety violations.
According to Liquor Control Enforcement, McGuire’s “failed to maintain complete and truthful malt or brewed beverage dispensing system cleaning records” for Feb. 24, 2020 through Feb. 20, 2021.
LCE also alleges that McGuire’s failed to clean said system at least once every seven days on July 8, Sept. 21, and Nov. 9, 2020.
On Feb. 6, LCE alleges that McGuire’s allowed a patron to be seated at the bar and permitted patrons to possess and/or consume alcoholic beverages on-premises after midnight.
Additionally, on Feb. 20, LCE alleged McGuire’s did not provide employees with or require them to wear face masks, and allowed a patron to be seated at the bar.
The Compass Rose, Frackville
The Compass Rose, 10 Oak Street, allegedly did not provide face masks for employees or require them to wear face masks, and sold or served alcohol without a meal on Feb. 13.
Additionally, on Feb. 28, the business is accused of doing the same, and also serving alcohol after 11:00pm and allowing patrons to possess or consume alcohol on-premises after midnight.
