Mandatory water conservation remains in place for Aqua’s Roaring Creek system
ELYSBURG – The Roaring Creek division of Aqua Pennsylvania remains under a mandatory water conservation notice due to drought conditions, the company said Tuesday.
This pertains to areas served by the Roaring Creek Water Plant off Route 54 near Elysburg, covering the Shamokin, Mount Carmel, Elysburg, Trevorton, and Centralia areas as well as Girardville and Gordon.
The notice was issued Nov. 18 and remains as drought conditions have persisted.
It pertains to all nonessential residential water use, including washing cars or trucks and powerwashing of any kind.
Aqua suggests customers cut back on essential water use as well with the following tips:
- Don’t leave the water running when brushing your teeth or shaving;
- Take showers, not baths: Showers are more efficient and use less water. The shorter the shower, the better. A 10-minute shower uses half the amount of water as a full bathtub;
- Cut back on rinsing dishes. Scrape off the food and let the dishwasher do the rest. Only run the dishwasher when it is full.
