“Alleged hazing violation” prompts forfeiture of MCA football game

MOUNT CARMEL, Northumberland County – The Red Tornadoes will not take to the gridiron today as scheduled, Mount Carmel school officials said, after an “alleged hazing violation.”

School officials said in a statement that they were made aware of the alleged violation by Mount Carmel Township Police, which remains under investigation.

Mount Carmel was set to face Warrior Run at 1:00pm today.

“We are saddened to make this announcement but feel swift and firm action is warranted given the information that was provided to local police,” Superintendent Pete Cheddar said in a statement. “Due to the confidential nature of the investigation, no other information can be provided at this time.”

Today’s game is the second forfeiture in a row for the program, after the school called off this past Tuesday’s matchup against Southern Columbia, citing injury concerns.
