Airplane brought in to help fight Centralia brush fire
CENTRALIA, Columbia County – Firefighters from across the region were once again in Centralia for a brush fire Monday afternoon.
Firefighters from Centralia, Aristes, Wilburton, Ashland, and Fountain Springs were called to battle the blaze past the far west end of South Street in the borough.
The blaze burned a large area between the end of South Street and the former railroad south of town.
Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) crews were also brought in, along with regional fire wardens crews.
An airplane from DCNR assisted with an air drop at one point in the firefight.
No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened in the blaze.
