Actors Guild to perform Jesus Christ Superstar

SAINT CLAIR – The Actors Guild of Schuylkill County’s latest production will be Jesus Christ Superstar.
The production will take place at the Kelsey Theater, 229 North Mill Street in Saint Clair, on April 10, 11, 12 at 7pm and April 13 at 2pm. Tickets are $20 at the door or at the Actors Guild website.
Bill Sugrue has the lead role of Jesus in the rock opera production by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Tom Pat Noon will have the role of Judas and is a return to acting for him. He told the Sentinel it is his first production with the Actors Guild and his first acting role since 2019.
“I took a little bit of a break and I recently retired after 31 years and a buddy of mine sent me the audition that they were doing Jesus Christ Superstar,” Noon said. “It was always one of my dream roles to play Judas.”
Speaking of dream roles, that is how Miranda Evitts described the role of Mary Magdalene.
The performance is described as “unique among biblical retellings in that it focuses on both Judas’ struggle making the decision to betray Jesus and Jesus’ human psychology, fear, and anger in understanding and accepting his role as both leader and martyr.”
Barbara Feudale is directing the production with Assistant Director Dana Smith-Mansell, Music Director Robin Green, Choreographer Hannah Stevenson, Stage Manager Karen Liddick, and Tech Director Tim Stehr.
