NUREMBERG – An annual event entering it’s 19th year, the Nuremberg Celebration once again occurred this weekend at North Union Township Community Park at the south end of the village.
Featuring a multitude of events and attractions, the celebration spanned two days, Saturday September 1 and Sunday September 2.
Hundreds attended the event Sunday, finding various food vendors from local churches and organizations, including the Twin County Lions, Tower’s Bar, and Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
CDE Exotics, of Hanover Township, Luzerne County, displayed various exotic animals at their stand, including a large snake, native to southeast Asia.
The snake, supervised by the group, roamed under an unoccupied table, where a crowd observed the reptile.
The group also had a turtle and a macaw displayed.
Among the events held Sunday was a wiener dog race, which drew a sizable crowd. Three heat races decided the three who would compete in the final. Though some were reluctant to follow the course, others flew to the finish line, though all found enjoyment in the event.
For the early afternoon, DJ Carmean Singley provided entertainment, though the evening would have 70’s Flashback perform.
A fireworks display concludes the weekend’s events at 10:00pm.
