Firefighters tackle brush fire near Centralia
CONYNGHAM TWP., Columbia County – Fire crews from three counties handled a brush fire about a mile southwest of Centralia Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the area of “The Tipple” in the borough for a reported fire around 5:30pm.
The fire was a mile southwest of town along the old railroad bed.
In addition to firefighters from Centralia, Aristes, and Wilburton, brush trucks and UTVs were called from Lavelle, Fountain Springs, and Ashland. A tanker from Beaverdale was also called to the scene.
The fire was brought under control within about an hour.
No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
In addition to local firefighters, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources also responded.
