No injuries in Gold Star crash
WEST MAHANOY TWP. – No one was hurt when two vehicles collided on a snow-covered Gold Star Highway Friday morning.
State Police at Frackville said the crash happened around 4:30am about a quarter mile north of the Gilberton ramp.
Troopers said Gene Allvord, 59, of Gilberton, was headed south on the highway in a 2008 Mack tri-axle when his truck began to slide.
The tri-axle slid onto the shoulder, striking a dirt embankment and turning sideways, blocking the southbound driving lane.
Demis Zepeda, 19, of Ringtown, was headed south in a 2018 Honda Civic behind Allvord’s truck and attempted to stop, seeing the crash. His car also slid in the roadway conditions, striking the rear of the tri-axle and become lodged under it.
Neither driver were injured and no citations will be issued, troopers said.
Zepeda’s Civic was towed from the scene by Steve’s Towing.
